Drip Coffee Maker cup of coffee automatic coffee machine

BACKGROUND

Automatic drip is usually our first experience with making coffee at home. Drop the coffee grounds in, push the button, and wait. While the drip’s brewing technology hasn’t changed much over time, using a more thoughtful approach — in terms of coffee and water weight—will yield the best results.

STEP 1

Weigh the water and add it to the reservoir. For 16oz of water (475g), we recommend 25 grams of coffee. You can also try 1g of coffee to every 19g of water. Feel free to experiment with this ratio to find what you like best.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Coffee
Brewer
Grinder
Scale

STEP 2

Weigh the coffee. Adjust your grinder to grind the coffee to medium.

STEP 3

Add the coffee to the filter, and try to distribute it evenly and level.

STEP 4

If your machine is equipped with a bloom function, make sure that is enabled. Start your machine.

STEP 5

Please let all of the coffee brew before taking any coffee from the carafe. The coffee’s flavor is developing over the entire duration of the brewing process.
